UK households should brace themselves for the upcoming increase in gas and electricity rates as the energy companies are starting to make preparations for this year’s winter. According to the estimates that have been made on present prices, each UK household will spend from £45 to £65 more by the third week of December, most especially when Christmas comes. The figures were a result of a pledge from Ed Miliband to ratify the law that pushes gas and electricity companies to pass on costs to the consumers. The head of the Labour party said that the present system of putting regulations in the industry is not delivering a fair deal. He said that the firms are “making us pay more than we should.” He added, “We’ll rip it up to stop you getting ripped off.”
